St. Matthias Thrift Shop Donates $20,000.00 to the Minocqua Police Department
In Support of Establishing a K9 Program
On August 4, 2015, the Minocqua Town Board approved the outside funding of the Minocqua Police Department K-9 Program. The Town Board has requested that the Police Department secure the funding for the K-9 Program before proceeding in the purchase and training of the K-9 and handler.
The Police Department looks forward to using the K-9 to track missing persons, provide the local school districts with K-9 sniffs, educate our youth in safety and drug awareness, and to help keep officers and the community safe.
The Minocqua Police Department has set a goal of $100,000 to assist with the purchase and training of the K-9, specialized handler training, the purchase of a fully equipped squad car, and to sustain the program for years to follow. The funds collected will only be used for the purpose of supporting the K-9 Program. The Minocqua Police Department can only achieve its goal with the assistance of generous donations from citizens and businesses in our community. Without these donations, the K-9 Program will not be possible.
On October 5, 2015, the Minocqua Police Department received a donation of $20,000.00 from the St. Matthias Thrift Shop in support of establishing a K9 Program at the Department. St. Matthias Thrift Shop stated, “We believe this is a good project for Minocqua.”
Not only does the support from the St. Matthias Thrift Shop move our Department closer to reaching its goal of establishing the K9 Program; it also assists in the accomplishment of the Minocqua Police Department’s mission. This generous donation demonstrates the ongoing drive of the Minocqua Police Department in partnership with the St. Matthias Thrift Shop to provide a top notch service to the community in which we serve. The Minocqua Police Department is sincerely grateful for the support from such a wonderful business.
