Ice Fisherman Falls Through Ice on Buckskin Lake in Minocqua
On March 30, 2017 at approximately 2:57 P.M., the Minocqua Police Department received a 9-1-1 call of someone calling for help coming from Buckskin Lake in Minocqua, WI. A second call was received reporting a male subject, Mark J Harrison (60) of Green Bay, WI, had fallen through the ice on Buckskin Lake in Minocqua, WI approximately 100 feet west of Eagle Island. There was another male subject, Roger J Deguelle (62) of Green Bay, WI who was stranded on Eagle Island due to ice conditions on Buckskin Lake. Rescue efforts were immediately initiated. Responding emergency units arrived on scene and took rescue measures to assist in bringing Harrison and Deguelle back to shore in the rescue airboat. Harrison was transported by ambulance to the Howard Young Medical Center (HYMC) emergency room.
The Minocqua Police Department would like to inform the public due to rescue measures taken on Buckskin Lake in Minocqua, WI the ice conditions have been compromised and are not safe for ice fishing or pedestrian travel.
The emergency units who responded to the rescue of the two male subjects were the Minocqua Police Department, Minocqua Fire and Rescue Department, the Woodruff Police Department, the Oneida County Dive Team, the Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Newbold Fire Department, the WI DNR, Lac Du Flambeau Tribal Police, Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission (GLIFWC), Lac Du Flambeau Rescue, Lac Du Flambeau Ambulance and HYMC Ambulance Paramedics.
