Re:                Joint Press Release

On February 15, 2018 we found two incidents of threatening graffiti in the women's restroom on the east side of the theatre. We take these threats very seriously at all times. We are continuing to work with law enforcement agencies to find the responsible person.  In addition, during the evening hours of February 15th, a SnapChat photograph was being distributed on social media, which also threatened the safety of our school.  Law enforcement continues to investigate this incident as well.

On February 16, 2018 there was an increased law enforcement presence at school to ensure the safety of the students, faculty and staff on campus.  Due to the seriousness of the offense and the ongoing investigation, the Polar Daze Assembly on February 16th was cancelled.  In addition, with the ongoing investigation, the Polar Daze Dance on Saturday, February 17, 2018 is being cancelled as well.  Again, it is important for everyone to understand we take these threats seriously, and on behalf of the safety of our students and staff we will stand on the side of caution.

As of right now, daily school activities will resume on Tuesday, February 20th.

The school administration is working closely with the Minocqua Police Department, other local law enforcement agencies and the FBI to resolve this situation.  If you have any information that can assist in the investigation, please contact the Minocqua Police Department at (715) 356-3234.

An arrest has been made involving the Snapchat photo that was being circulated threatening the safety of the school. Due to the perpetrator being a minor, the details of the arrest are not being released at this time. We would like to thank the Minocqua Police Department, the FBI –Wausau Office, LUHS Students and parents, School Faculty and Staff along with our communities, for the hard work and information sharing which contributed to the apprehension
