Domestic Situation Involving a Firearm
On January 9, 2019 at approximately 7:17 PM, the Minocqua Police Department along with Woodruff Police Department and the Howard Young Medical Center Paramedics responded to a residence on Old Hwy 70 in Minocqua, WI for the report of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to a female subject. Upon officers’ arrival, investigation found that the situation stemmed from a domestic situation. The female subject was transported to the Howard Young Emergency Room and treated for the gunshot wound suffered during the incident. The female subject was later transferred to a hospital in Wausau for additional treatment and is currently being held at the hospital.
This incident is still under investigation and specific details of the investigation are not being released at this time. The Department does not feel there is any danger to public safety stemming from this incident at this time. Anyone with more information about the incident that could assist in the investigation, please contact the Minocqua Police Department and speak with LT Benbenek or Detective SGT Dave Geiss. The Minocqua Police Department was assisted in this investigation by the following agencies: Oneida County Sheriff’s Office, Woodruff Police Department, Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Howard Young Medical Center (HYMC) Med 5 Paramedics and the Oneida County District Attorney’s Office.
