Investigation into LUHS Threat

Re:      Press Release

Minocqua Police Department Investigation into LUHS Threat

On February 4, 2020 we found an incident of threatening graffiti in the men’s restroom located in the Tech Ed hallway at Lakeland Union High School. We take these threats very seriously. In cooperation with LUHS administration, a juvenile male subject was identified as the likely person responsible for the wrongdoing.  As a result of the investigation, charges will be referred to Vilas County Department of Social Services.  Due to the perpetrator being a minor, the details of the juvenile referral are not being released at this time.  We would like to thank LUHS school faculty and staff for the hard work and information sharing which contributed to the conclusion of this investigation.

School will be in session on Wednesday, February 5th 2020.  Again, it is important for everyone to understand we take these threats seriously, and on behalf of the safety of our students and staff we will stand on the side of caution.  Due to this, there will be an increased law enforcement presence at school to ensure the safety of the students, faculty and staff on campus.
